St George Greens are dedicated to the following priorities for our campaigning work:

1. Social Justice

  • Fair Housing, Renting, & Economic Equality: We are tackling the cost-of-living crisis head-on by fighting for the rights of renters and everyday people. Our focus is on freezing rents, halting the privatisation or demolition of public housing, and investing in high-quality public alternatives. We believe in a fair economy where we tax mega-corporations and the wealthiest 1% to fund the essential services our community relies on. Learn more.

  • Health & Community Well-being: Healthcare is a fundamental human right. We are campaigning to expand public health services—including fighting to bring dental care into Medicare—and ensuring our local support systems are fully funded to protect vulnerable community members from rising economic stress. • Celebrating Multiculturalism & First Nations Sovereignty: We stand for a genuinely inclusive society that celebrates our rich multicultural fabric and honours Australia’s roots in Aboriginal heritage. We back tangible recognition, First Nations self-determination, and structural treaty processes over purely symbolic gestures.

  • LGBTQ+ Visibility, Equality, & Rights: We champion a community where everyone can live safely, authentically, and free from discrimination. We campaign for full legal equality, expanded access to gender-affirming healthcare, robust protections against discrimination, and dedicated funding for LGBTQ+ support services and community visibility initiatives.

2. Ecological Sustainability

  • Climate Action & Environmental Protection: Protecting our planet means taking immediate, bold action. We campaign locally and nationally for robust environmental protections, halting native forest logging, defending critical ecosystems, and opposing greenwashing. We advocate for a rapid, funded transition to renewable energy and sustainable industry practices to guarantee a safe climate for future generations. Learn more.

3. Peace and Non-Violence

  • Global Peace, Solidarity, & Accountability: We stand firmly against the horrors of war and demand international accountability for war crimes. Our group actively supports the Pro-Palestine movement and advocates for a just, peaceful resolution. Closer to home, we oppose rising global militarism by calling for smarter, peace-focused defense spending, overhauling or scrapping Australia’s involvement in the costly AUKUS pact, and ending foreign military surveillance on unceded lands. 4. Grassroots Democracy

  • Community-Led Power & Integrity: Change doesn’t happen from the top down—it starts with the community. We are committed to making sure everyday people have a real voice in local council and state decisions. We advocate for deep political integrity, closing the revolving door between corporate lobbyists and government, and ensuring that community consultation is meaningful, transparent, and legally respects First Nations self-determination.
