The local St George Greens announce that they have selected a candidate for the by-election to replace former Deputy Mayor Andrew Istephan.
Paul Gage has nominated for the Hurstville Ward, he has been a member of the Greens for about 10 years and is currently the treasurer of the group.
Paul is a local self-funded retiree, aged 63. Until his retirement last year, Paul worked in the St George district. He is a keen recreational cyclist, long time member of the St George Bicycle Users Group and has worked in various grassroots campaigns.
He lives in Beverly Hills with wife Prue a part-time admin clerk at St George Hospital. Paul and Prue have a daughter, Antonia 17 who is currently at university.
Paul believes that any councillor, or elected official for that matter, must value their local community. He says “Together we can make Hurstville a more vibrant, sustainable community with equity and real quality of life.”
“This by-election is a chance for the electors of Hurstville Ward to tell the incumbent councillors, its time to lift your game… to show respect and integrity.” says Paul.
